SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The Vancouver Canucks visited and bested the St. Louis Blues 6-goals-2 to complete a 4-games-2 best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1426 victory. With the series 1426 win, the Vancouver Canucks improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 16-20 overall and 10-9 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1426 loss, the St. Louis Blues see their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record fall to 27-37 overall and 14-13 in the Preliminary round. The win order for the victorious Vancouver Canucks in series 1426 was WWLLWW: Series 1426 thus becomes the 16th NHL Preliminary-round series, the 41st NHL series (all rounds), and the 82nd MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. The series 1426 victory by the Vancouver Canucks ends a four-series losing streak by Vancouver; the last best-of-7 NHL playoff series victory by Vancouver was in series 1135, over the San Jose Sharks in the 2011 NHL Semifinals. The series 1426 Game 6 loss by the St. Louis Blues ends a five-road-game best-of-7 NHL playoff winning streak which began with Game 2 of the 2019 NHL Finals against the Bruins in Boston, ousts the Blues from the 2020 NHL playoffs, and ends their reign as NHL champions.

After Game 5: The Vancouver Canucks visited and defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-goals-3 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1426 lead of 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Vancouver Canucks have a series record of 6-2 and a Game 6 record of 3-5. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the St. Louis Blues have a series record of 4-20 and a Game 6 record of 10-14. The Vancouver Canucks trailed the pseudo-host St. Louis Blues by two goals as late as 11:53 into the second period but emerged victorious: In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff games from 1939 through 2019, inclusive, road teams down two goals as late as 11:53 into the second period had a game record of only 35-446 (.073) - the Vancouver Canucks thus achieve a grade-A in-game comeback. Only once before in a best-of-7 NHL Preliminary-round series has the win/site order played out WWLLW @ VVHHV (as series 1426 now stands): In series 1391, the St. Louis Blues posted that win/site order in their 2019 NHL Preliminary-round series against the Winnipeg Jets(II) - St. Louis won Game 6 to win the series, and proceeded to win the 2019 NHL championship. So it is that the 2019 Blues set a most favorable precedent for the 2020 Canucks, against, ironically, the 2020 Blues.

After Game 4: The St. Louis Blues visited and bested the Vancouver Canucks 3-goals-1 to tie best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1426 at 2-games-all. When tied 2-games-all in a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series, the St. Louis Blues have a series record of 11-15 and a Game 5 record of 10-16, while the Vancouver Canucks have a series record of 2-8 and a Game 5 record of 3-7.

After Game 3: The St. Louis Blues visited and bested the Vancouver Canucks 3-goals-2 (OT) to reduce the Vancouver Canucks best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 1426 lead to 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Vancouver Canucks have a series record of 9-6 and a Game 4 record of 9-6. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the St. Louis Blues have a series record of 7-18 and a Game 4 record of 12-13. In the last six best-of-7 NHL playoff series in which the Vancouver Canucks have led 2-games-1, their Game 4 outcome presaged their series outcome (three wins; three losses). The St. Louis Blues after three games of series 1426 find themselves down 2-games-1 in their third consecutive best-of-7 NHL playoff series: The last two such series were in the 2019 NHL Semifinals and Finals, in which they prevailed.

After Game 2: The Vancouver Canucks visited and topped the St. Louis Blues 4-goals-3 (OT) to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1426 lead of 2-games-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Vancouver Canucks have a series record of 5-2 and a Game 3 record of 2-5. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the St. Louis Blues have a series record of 1-15 (with an active 12-series losing streak) and a Game 3 record of 7-9.

After Game 1: The Vancouver Canucks visited and defeated the St. Louis Blues 5-goals-2 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1426 lead of 1-game-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Vancouver Canucks have a series record of 11-10 and a Game 2 record of 7-14. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the St. Louis Blues have a series record of 7-24 and a Game 2 record of 15-16 (with an active five-Game 2 winning streak).

Pre-series assessment: In the 2019-20 NHL regular season, the St. Louis Blues finished 16 points ahead of the Vancouver Canucks. From 1939 through the 2019 NHL Finals round, when NHL teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 16 regular-season points, they have posted a best-of-7 playoff series record of 12-4 (.750) in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1426 is the 64th best-of-7 NHL playoff series for the St. Louis Blues, and the 36th for the Vancouver Canucks. In best-of-7 NHL playoff series, the St. Louis Blues have an all-rounds series record of 27-36 (with an active four-series winning streak befitting a defending NHL champion), a Preliminary-round series record of 14-12, and a Game 1 record of 32-31, while the Vancouver Canucks have an all-rounds series record of 15-20 (with an active four-series losing streak), a Preliminary-round series record of 9-9, and a Game 1 record of 21-14. Series 1426 is the fourth best-of-7 NHL playoff series meeting between the St. Louis Blues and the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver won the previous three best-of-7 NHL playoff series between the two teams.
