SERIES NOTES:

After Game 4: The San Jose Sharks hosted and defeated the Anaheim Ducks 2-goals-1 to complete a 4-games-nil best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1360 victory. With the series 1360 win, the San Jose Sharks improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 18-19 overall and 13-7 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1360 loss, the Anaheim Ducks see their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record fall to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in the Preliminary round. The win order for the victorious San Jose Sharks in series 1360 was WWWW: Series 1360 thus becomes the 32nd NHL Preliminary-round series, the 117th NHL series (all rounds), and the 224th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. Swept from the 2018 NHL playoffs, both Los Angeles-area teams (the Kings in series 1359; the Ducks in series 1360) scored a total of only seven goals between them before their respective seasons ended.

After Game 3: The San Jose Sharks hosted and bested the Anaheim Ducks 8-goals-1 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1360 lead of 3-games-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-nil, the San Jose Sharks have a series record of 4-1 and a Game 4 record of 1-4. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-nil, the Anaheim Ducks have a series record of 0-0 and a Game 4 record of 0-0. The San Jose Sharks were the last team to lose a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series upon having led three-games-nil, having done so to the Los Angeles Kings in series 1228 in the 2014 NHL Preliminary round. (The Kings, ironically, trail their current Preliminary-round series three-games-nil.) The eight goals by San Jose in series 1360 Game 3 are the most by one team in a best-of-7 NHL playoff game since the Pittsburgh Penguins likewise scored eight goals in Philadelphia against the Flyers in Game 4 of series 1158, in the 2012 NHL Preliminary round. The Anaheim Ducks trail a best-of-7 NHL playoff series three-games-nil for the first time. The old Anaheim Mighty Ducks thrice trailed three-games-nil, losing twice in four games and once in five.

After Game 2: The San Jose Sharks visited and bested the Anaheim Ducks 3-goals-2 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1360 lead of 2-games-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the San Jose Sharks have a series record of 8-2 and a Game 3 record of 5-5. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Anaheim Ducks have a series record of 1-3 and a Game 3 record of 4-0. Trailing a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the old Anaheim Mighty Ducks had a 0-4 series record and a 1-3 Game 3 record.

After Game 1: The San Jose Sharks visited and shut out the Anaheim Ducks 3-goals-nil to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1360 lead of 1-game-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the San Jose Sharks have a series record of 12-7 and a Game 2 record of 10-9. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Anaheim Ducks have a series record of 2-6 and a Game 2 record of 4-4. Series 1360 Game 1 is only the 21st best-of-7 NHL Preliminary-round Game 1 shutout by a road team - such road teams have a 9-11 series record.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2017-18 NHL regular season, the Anaheim Ducks finished one points ahead of the San Jose Sharks. From 1939 through the 2017 NHL Finals round, when NHL teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by one regular-season points, they have posted a best-of-7 playoff series record of 12-8 (.600) in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1360 is the 19th best-of-7 NHL playoff series for the Anaheim Ducks (post-Mighty Ducks), and the 37th for the San Jose Sharks. In best-of-7 NHL playoff series, the Anaheim Ducks have an all-rounds series record of 10-8, a Preliminary-round series record of 5-4, and a Game 1 record of 10-8, while the San Jose Sharks have an all-rounds series record of 17-19, a Preliminary-round series record of 12-7, and a Game 1 record of 19-17. Series 1360 is the second best-of-7 NHL playoff series meeting between the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks. Anaheim defeated San Jose in their only previous best-of-7 NHL playoff series, in the 2009 NHL Preliminary round.
