SERIES NOTES:

After Game 7: The Anaheim Ducks hosted and topped the Edmonton Oilers 2-goals-1 to complete a 4-games-3 best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1331 victory. With the series 1331 win, the Anaheim Ducks improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in the Quarterfinals round. With the series 1331 loss, the Edmonton Oilers see their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record fall to 30-14 overall and 9-5 in the Quarterfinals round. The win order for the victorious Anaheim Ducks in series 1331 was LLWWWLW: Series 1331 thus becomes the fourth NHL Quarterfinals-round series, the ninth NHL series (all rounds), and the 15th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. In series 1331, the Anaheim Ducks were outscored by the Edmonton Oilers 24-goals-21, thus marking the 17th best-of-7 NHL playoff series in which the loser outscored the winner by three or more total goals.

After Game 6: The Edmonton Oilers hosted and defeated the Anaheim Ducks 7-goals-1 to tie best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1331 at 3-games-all. When tied 3-games-all in a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series, the Anaheim Ducks have a Game 7 record of 0-5 (not counting the 2-1 Game 7 record by the old Anaheim "Mighty" Ducks), while the Edmonton Oilers have a Game 7 record of 6-3. In series 1331 Game 6, the three Edmonton Oilers goals in 8:25 without an Anaheim Ducks goal were the fastest three home goals without a visitor goal since series 1157, wherein the New Jersey Devils scored three goals at home in 6:16 against the Florida Panthers in their 2012 NHL Preliminary-round series Game 3. The four Edmonton Oilers goals in 11:39 without an Anaheim Ducks goal were the fastest four home goals without a visitor goal since series 1136, wherein the Boston Bruins scored four goals at home in 9:45 against the Vancouver Canucks in their 2011 NHL Finals-round series Game 6. The five Edmonton Oilers goals in 18:49 without an Anaheim Ducks goal were the third-fastest five home goals without a visitor goal in best-of-7 NHL playoff game history, and the fastest five home goals without a visitor goal since series 117, wherein the Montreal Canadiens scored five goals at home in 14:23 against the Detroit Red Wings in their 1958 NHL Semifinals-round series Game 1. The six Edmonton Oilers goals in 20:45 without an Anaheim Ducks goal were the fastest six home goals without a visitor goal in best-of-7 NHL playoff game history, breaking the old record set in series 98 wherein the Canadiens in Montreal scored six goals in 21:18 before the Boston Bruins scored a goal in their 1954 NHL Semifinals Game 2. The Game 7 record of the Anaheim Ducks on home ice is 0-4; the Game 7 record of the Edmonton Oilers on road ice is 3-2. The overall Game 7 record of home NHL teams in best-of-7 NHL playoff series: 97-69 (.584).

After Game 5: The Anaheim Ducks hosted and defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-goals-3 in double overtime to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1331 lead of 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Anaheim Ducks have a series record of 3-4 and a Game 6 record of 3-4. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Edmonton Oilers have a series record of 2-5 and a Game 6 record of 4-3. Anaheim trailed series 1331 Game 5 at home by three goals as late as 16:43 into the third period, by two goals as late as 17:18 into the third, and by one goal as late as 19:44 into the third before sending the game to overtime and eventually winning it at 6:57 into the second overtime period. In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff games from 1939 through 2016, inclusive, home teams trailing by three goals as late as 16:43 into the third period had a game record of 0-212 (.000), home teams trailing by two goals as late as 17:18 into the third had a game record of 4-359 (.011), and home teams trailing by one goal as late as 19:44 into the third had a game record of 9-416 (.021). In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff games from 1939 through 2016, inclusive, home teams at 6:56 into the second overtime period had a game record of 38-49 (.437). Prior to series 1331 Game 5, the latest that a home team had trailed a best-of-7 NHL playoff game (1939-2016, inclusive) by three goals but won was 15:59 into the third period of series 728 Game 3, in which (ironically) the Oilers in Edmonton trailed the visiting Dallas Stars by three goals but won the game with goals at 16:00, 17:44, and 17:56 into the third period, and with the game-winner at 9:15 into the first overtime period. When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Anaheim Ducks win the series when they win Game 6 (by definition; three occurrences), and lose Game 7 and the series when they lose Game 6 (four occurrences); never have the Anaheim Ducks lost Game 6 but won Game 7 to win a series they had led 3-games-2.

In the last three best-of-7 NHL playoff series in which they've been tied 2-games-all, the Anaheim Ducks won Game 5, but then lost Games 6-7 and the series. In the ten best-of-7 NHL playoff series in which the Edmonton Oilers have been tied 2-games-all after four games, a Game 5 win portended a series win (seven times), and a Game 5 loss portended a series loss (three occurrences).

When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Anaheim Ducks have a series record of 1-5 with an active five-series losing streak and a Game 2 record of 3-3.
