SERIES NOTES:

After Game 5: The Golden State Warriors hosted and defeated the Houston Rockets 114-pts-81 to complete a 4-games-1 best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1306 victory. With the series 1306 win, the Golden State Warriors improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 12-10 (with an active five-series winning streak befitting the reigning NBA champions) overall and 4-1 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1306 loss, the Houston Rockets see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 15-18 overall and 2-7 in the Preliminary round. The win order for the victorious Golden State Warriors in series 1306 was WWLWW: Series 1306 thus becomes the 16th NBA Preliminary-round series, the 55th NBA series (all rounds), and the 115th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. The sum of the victory margins in series 1306 was 96 points - second only to the 125-point sum (in series 1076, in which the Denver Nuggets defeated the old New Orleans Hornets in the 2009 NBA Preliminary round) for the largest such sum in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series lasting five games.

After Game 4: The Golden State Warriors visited and defeated the Houston Rockets 121-pts-94 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1306 lead of 3-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-1, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 3-0 and a Game 5 record of 1-2. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-1, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 2-9 and a Game 5 record of 8-3. The 41-point 3rd quarter by the Golden State Warriors in series 1306 Game 4 was the highest-scoring third quarter by one team in a best-of-7 NBA playoff game since series 1280 Game 4, when the Clippers in Los Angeles scored 43 points in the third quarter in the 2015 NBA Quarterfinals against the Houston Rockets (which must be experiencing a sense of déjà vu).

After Game 3: The Houston Rockets hosted and defeated the Golden State Warriors 97-pts-96 to reduce the Golden State Warriors best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 1306 lead to 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 4-1 and a Game 4 record of 2-3. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 4-11 and a Game 4 record of 6-9.

After Game 2: The Golden State Warriors hosted and bested the Houston Rockets 115-pts-106 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1306 lead of 2-games-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 3-0 and a Game 3 record of 3-0. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 2-13 (with an active seven-series losing streak) and a Game 3 record of 11-4. Both the Houston Rockets (when down 2-games-nil in a best-of-7 format NBA playoff series) and the Portland Trailblazers (when down 1-game-nil) sport identical 2-13 series records with active seven-series losing streaks.

After Game 1: The Golden State Warriors hosted and bested the Houston Rockets 104-pts-78 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1306 lead of 1-game-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Golden State Warriors have a series record of 9-3 (with an active four-series winning streak) and a Game 2 record of 3-9. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 5-14 and a Game 2 record of 4-15.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2015-16 NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors finished 32 games ahead of the Houston Rockets. From 1947 through the 2015 NBA Finals round, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 32 regular-season games, they have posted a best-of-7 playoff series record of 0-0 (---) in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1306 is the 22nd best-of-7 NBA playoff series for the Golden State Warriors, and the 33rd for the Houston Rockets. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the Golden State Warriors have an all-rounds series record of 11-10 (with an active four-series winning streak), a Preliminary-round series record of 3-1, and a Game 1 record of 12-9 (with an active five-Game 1 winning streak), while the Houston Rockets have an all-rounds series record of 15-17, a Preliminary-round series record of 2-6, and a Game 1 record of 13-19. Series 1306 is the second best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets. In series 1282 (the series for which series 1306 is a re-match), Golden State topped Houston in the 2015 NBA Semifinals. The 32-game 2015-16 regular-season gulf between Golden State and Houston is the largest ever between two best-of-7 NBA playoff series opponents, breaking the previous record of 29 games (by the 66-16 Boston Celtics over the 37-45 Atlanta Hawks in series 1038, in the 2008 NBA Preliminary round, won by Boston in seven games).
