With the series 1256 win, the New York Rangers improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 31-38 overall and 12-6 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1256 loss, the Pittsburgh Penguins see their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record fall to 29-22 overall and 14-7 in the Preliminary round. The win order for the victorious New York Rangers in series 1256 was WLWWW: Series 1256 thus becomes the 11th NHL Preliminary-round series, the 37th NHL series (all rounds), and the 78th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. In series 1256, the Penguins in Pittsburgh scored only two goals -- the fewest goals on home ice by a team in a best-of-7 NHL playoff series since series 1235, when the series 1256-winning Rangers in New York scored only two goals (ironically enough) in the 2014 NHL Finals.
