SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The Indiana Pacers visited and defeated the Washington Wizards 93-pts-80 to complete a 4-games-2 best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1244 victory. With the series 1244 win, the Indiana Pacers improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 14-12 overall and 8-2 in the Quarterfinals round. With the series 1244 loss, the Washington Wizards see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Quarterfinals round. The win order for the victorious Indiana Pacers in series 1244 was LWWWLW: Series 1244 thus becomes the fifth NBA Quarterfinals-round series, the 14th NBA series (all rounds), and the 47th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. With series 1244 Game 6, the Indiana Pacers have an active five-Game 6 winning streak in best-of-7 NBA playoff series.

After Game 5: The Washington Wizards visited and bested the Indiana Pacers 102-pts-79 to reduce the Indiana Pacers best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 1244 lead to 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Indiana Pacers have a series record of 8-1 (with an active 7-series winning streak) and a Game 6 record of 6-3. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Washington Wizards have a series record of 0-2 and a Game 6 record of 0-2. Washington won series 1244 Game 5 by 23 points in Indiana, thus tying the record for largest victory margin on the road in a Game 5 by an NBA team trailing a best-of-7 playoff series 3-games-1 (set in series 360, by the Philadelphia 76ers in San Antonio against the Spurs in Game 5 of their 1979 NBA Quarterfinals series; Philadelphia then won Game 6 before dropping Game 7 and the series).

After Game 4: The Indiana Pacers visited and defeated the Washington Wizards 95-pts-92 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1244 lead of 3-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-1, the Indiana Pacers have a series record of 6-0 and a Game 5 record of 2-4. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-1, the Washington Wizards have a series record of 0-1 and a Game 5 record of 1-0. The Indiana Pacers trailed series 1244 Game 4 by 17 points at halftime. In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff games prior to this one, road teams down 17 points at halftime had a game record of 0-33 (.000); so it is that the Indiana comeback victory in series 1244 Game 4 was without precedent. The unprecedented comeback gave Indiana a 3-games-1 series 1244 lead through site order HHVV: In best-of-7 NBA playoff series from 1947 through the 2014 Preliminary round, inclusive, teams leading 3-games-1 @ HHVV have a 134-1 (.993) series record. The sole comeback was achieved in series 691 by the Houston Rockets over the Phoenix Suns in the 1995 NBA Quarterfinals; Houston went on to win the 1995 NBA championship. This 134-1 (.993) series record for NBA teams up 3-games-1 with Games 1-2 at home and Games 3-4 on the road may currently be the most one-sided series record related to MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series – even the site-generic MLB/NBA/NHL series record for teams up 3-games-nil is currently only 314-5 (.984).

After Game 3: The Indiana Pacers visited and defeated the Washington Wizards 85-pts-63 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1244 lead of 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Indiana Pacers have a series record of 9-3 and a Game 4 record of 5-7. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Washington Wizards have a series record of 1-2 and a Game 4 record of 2-1. The 63 points recorded by the Washington Wizards in series 1244 Game 3 are the fewest by an NBA team (at home or on the road) in a best-of-7 playoff game since series 1076 Game 4, in which the old Hornets in New Orleans totaled 63 points against the Denver Nuggets in their 2009 NBA Preliminary-round series – Denver won that game by 58 points, the largest victory margin ever in a best-of-7 NBA playoff game.

After Game 2: The Indiana Pacers hosted and topped the Washington Wizards 86-pts-82 to tie best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1244 at 1-game-all. When tied 1-game-all in a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series, the Indiana Pacers have a series record of 6-7 and a Game 3 record of 8-5, while the Washington Wizards have a series record of 0-1 and a Game 3 record of 0-1. The Indiana Pacers have a 2-2 series record upon posting a win-site order of LW@HH, having won their 2014 and 2012 Preliminary-round series and lost their 2003 Preliminary-round series and 1999 Semifinals-round series.

After Game 1: The Washington Wizards visited and outscored the Indiana Pacers 102-pts-96 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1244 lead of 1-game-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Washington Wizards have a series record of 1-0 and a Game 2 record of 1-0. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Indiana Pacers have a series record of 3-10 and a Game 2 record of 8-5 (with an active four-Game 2 winning streak). Indiana has a 3-10 series record when trailing 1-game-nil, but one of those three wins occurred in the last Indiana series over the Atlanta Hawks - in the 2014 NBA Preliminary round.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2013-14 NBA regular season, the Indiana Pacers finished 12 games ahead of the Washington Wizards. From 1947 through the 2014 NBA Preliminary round, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 12 regular-season games, they have posted a 13-4 (.765) best-of-7 playoff series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1244 is the 26th best-of-7 NBA playoff series for the Indiana Pacers, and the seventh for the Washington Wizards. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the Indiana Pacers have an all-rounds series record of 13-12, a Quarterfinals-round series record of 7-2, and a Game 1 record of 12-13, while the Washington Wizards have an all-rounds series record of 2-4, a Quarterfinals-round series record of 0-1, and a Game 1 record of 1-5. Series 1244 is the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards.
