SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The Portland Trailblazers hosted and bested the Houston Rockets 99-pts-98 to complete a 4-games-2 best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1243 victory. With the series 1243 win, the Portland Trailblazers improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 23-12 overall and 1-4 (ending a four-series losing streak) in the Preliminary round. With the series 1243 loss, the Houston Rockets see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 13-16 overall and 1-6 in the Preliminary round. The win order for the victorious Portland Trailblazers in series 1243 was WWLWLW: Series 1243 thus becomes the fourth NBA Preliminary-round series, the 19th NBA series (all rounds), and the 40th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. Houston outscored Portland 672-pts-670 over the six games. The sum of the series 1243 game victory margins – only 28 points – ties that of series 170 (in which the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Baltimore Bullets (II) in their 1965 NBA Semifinals series) and series 520 (in which the Detroit Pistons defeated the Boston Celtics in their 1988 NBA Semifinals series) for smallest sum of game victory margins in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series lasting six games. So concludes a very close best-of-7 playoff series, on a game-by-game basis.

After Game 5: The Houston Rockets hosted and bested the Portland Trailblazers 108-pts-98 to reduce the Portland Trailblazers best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 1243 lead to 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Portland Trailblazers have a series record of 6-0 and a Game 6 record of 5-1. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-2, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 2-10 (with an active five-series losing streak) and a Game 6 record of 5-7.

After Game 4: The Portland Trailblazers hosted and defeated the Houston Rockets 123-pts-120 in overtime to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1243 lead of 3-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-1, the Portland Trailblazers have a series record of 5-0 and a Game 5 record of 3-2. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 3-games-1, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 1-7 and a Game 5 record of 6-2. Portland trailed at home by ten points at halftime of series 1243 Game 4. In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff games since 1947, home teams down ten points at halftime had a game record of 9-27 (.250).

After Game 3: The Houston Rockets visited and topped the Portland Trailblazers 121-pts-116 in overtime to reduce the Portland Trailblazers best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 1243 lead to 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Portland Trailblazers have a series record of 7-0 and a Game 4 record of 4-3. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 3-10 (with an active four-series losing streak) and a Game 4 record of 6-7.

After Game 2: The Portland Trailblazers visited and defeated the Houston Rockets 112-pts-105 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1243 lead of 2-games-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Portland Trailblazers have a series record of 7-0 and a Game 3 record of 2-5. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 2-11 (with an active five-series losing streak) but a Game 3 record of 10-3. Houston loses Game 2 in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series upon having lost Game 1 for the eleventh consecutive time.

After Game 1: The Portland Trailblazers visited and defeated the Houston Rockets 122-pts-120 to take a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1243 lead of 1-game-nil. When leading a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Portland Trailblazers have a series record of 8-1 (with the sole loss occurring in the last best-of-7 NBA playoff series which Portland led 1-game-nil: Series 1110, against the Phoenix Suns in the 2010 NBA Preliminary round) and a Game 2 record of 7-2. When trailing a best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Houston Rockets have a series record of 4-12 (with an active five-series losing streak) and a Game 2 record of 3-13 (with an active ten-Game 2 losing streak).

Pre-series assessment: In the 2013-14 NBA regular season, Houston finished with the same win-loss record as Portland, but won home-court advantage through the NBA tiebreaking process. From 1947 through the 2013 NBA Finals round, inclusive, teams such as Houston with home-court advantage in that situation have posted an 8-8 (.500) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1243 is the 23rd best-of-7 NBA playoff series for Portland, and the 29th for Houston. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, Portland has a 10-12 series record (with an active five-series losing streak), a 0-4 Preliminary-round series record, and a 9-13 Game 1 record, while Houston has a 13-15 series record, a 1-5 Preliminary-round record, and a 12-16 Game 1 record. Series 1243 is the second best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between Portland and Houston; Houston won series 1078 between the two teams in the 2009 NBA Preliminary round.
