SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The San Antonio Spurs visited and defeated the Golden State Warriors 94-pts-82 to achieve a 4-games-2 win of MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214. With the series 1214 win, the San Antonio Spurs improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 29-19 overall and 12-10 in the Quarterfinals. With the series 1214 loss, the best-of-7 NBA playoff series record of the Golden State Warriors falls to 7-9 overall and 3-7 in the Quarterfinals (with an active six-series Quarterfinals losing streak). The win order for the victorious San Antonio Spurs in series 1214 was WLWLWW: Series 1214 thus becomes the tenth NBA Quarterfinals series, the 23rd NBA series (all rounds), and the 40th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion. In the NBA Quarterfinals, the last team to follow the WLWLWW win order to completion was . . . the San Antonio Spurs, in series 1015 over the Phoenix Suns in 2007.

After Game 5: The San Antonio Spurs hosted and defeated the Golden State Warriors 109-pts-91 to take a 3-games-2 lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the San Antonio Spurs have an 11-1 series record (with an active 10-series winning streak) and a 9-3 Game 6 record (with an active three-Game 6 winning streak). When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Golden State Warriors have a 1-1 series record and a 2-0 Game 6 record. The San Antonio Spurs in series 1214 have posted a WLWLW @ HHVVH win/site order: In best-of-7 NBA Quarterfinals series history, teams posting such a win/site order have a 7-1 series record, with the sole loss sustained by the 2000 Miami Heat to the New York Knickerbockers in series 814. Ironically, the Golden State Warriors (in series 301, in the 1975 Quarterfinals; in series 316, in the 1976 Quarterfinals) accounted for the first two of these seven series victories.

After Game 4: The Golden State Warriors hosted and defeated the San Antonio Spurs 97-pts-87 after one overtime period, thereby tying MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214 at 2-games-all. When tied 2-games-all in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the San Antonio Spurs have an 8-6 series record and a 7-7 Game 5 record, while the Golden State Warriors have a 4-2 series record and a 4-2 Game 5 record.

After Game 3: The San Antonio Spurs visited and defeated the Golden State Warriors 102-pts-92 to take a 2-games-1 lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the San Antonio Spurs have a 16-3 series record and a 10-9 Game 4 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the Golden State Warriors have a 2-5 series record with an active four-series losing streak, and a 3-4 Game 4 record with an active three-Game 4 losing streak.

After Game 2: The Golden State Warriors visited and defeated the San Antonio Spurs 100-pts-91 to tie MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214 at 1-game-all. When tied 1-game-all in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the San Antonio Spurs have an 8-9 series record and a 9-8 Game 3 record, while the Golden State Warriors have a 6-4 series record and a 5-5 Game 3 record. With the Golden State series 1214 Game 2 victory, all four NBA Quarterfinals series are tied 1-game-all after two games – the first time that such has happened since the NBA adopted the best-of-7 format for its Quarterfinals round in 1968.

After Game 1: The San Antonio Spurs hosted and defeated the Golden State Warriors 129-pts-127 in two overtime periods to take a 1-game-nil lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the San Antonio Spurs have a 22-5 series record and a 21-6 Game 2 record with an active seven-Game 2 winning streak. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the Golden State Warriors have a 2-6 series record and a 4-4 Game 2 record. San Antonio trailed series 1214 Game 1 by a dozen points after three quarters: In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff games beginning in 1947, home teams down 12 points after three quarters had a game record of 1-25 (.038) – the sole previous victor was the Boston Celtics, which trailed the old Buffalo Braves 81-pts-69 in Boston after three quarters of series 284 Game 1 (in the 1974 NBA Quarterfinals) but came back to win 107-pts-97.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2012-13 NBA regular season, San Antonio finished 11 games ahead of Golden State. From 1947 through the 2013 NBA Preliminary round, inclusive, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by eleven regular-season games, they have posted a 20-5 (.800) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1214 is the 16th best-of-7 NBA playoff series for Golden State, and the 48th for San Antonio. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, Golden State has a 7-8 series record, a 3-6 Quarterfinals-round series record (with an active five-series losing streak), and a 7-8 Game 1 record, while San Antonio has a 28-19 series record, an 11-10 Quarterfinals-round record, and a 27-20 Game 1 record (with a four-Game 1 winning streak). Series 1214 is the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between Golden State and San Antonio.
