SERIES NOTES:

After Game 7: The Chicago Bulls visited and defeated the Brooklyn Nets 99-pts-93 for a 4-games-3 win of MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206. With the series 1206 win, the Chicago Bulls improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff record to 26-20 overall and 3-5 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1206 loss, the Brooklyn Nets see their first best-of-7 NBA playoff series as the “Brooklyn” Nets end with a 0-1 overall series record and a 0-1 Preliminary-round series record. The win order for the victorious Chicago Bulls in series 1206 was LWWWLLW: Series 1206 thus becomes the first NBA Preliminary-round series, the seventh NBA series (all rounds), and the 16th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow that win order to completion.

After Game 6: The Brooklyn Nets visited and defeated the Chicago Bulls 95-pts-92, tying MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206 at 3-games-all. The Chicago Bulls have a 3-6 Game 7 record (with all three wins at home and all six losses on the road); the Brooklyn Nets (as the New Jersey Nets) had a 0-1 Game 7 record (having lost to the Pistons in Detroit in series 930, in the 2004 NBA Quarterfinals). All else equal, home teams in seventh games of best-of-7 NBA playoff series have an 89-22 (.802) Game 7 record.

After Game 5: The Chicago Bulls visited and lost to the Brooklyn Nets 110-pts-91, thus seeing their MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206 lead fall to 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Chicago Bulls have a 13-1 series record (with an active 11-series winning streak) and a 10-4 Game 6 record; when trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Brooklyn Nets (as the New Jersey Nets) had a 0-3 series record and a 0-3 Game 6 record.

After Game 4: The Chicago Bulls hosted and defeated the Brooklyn Nets 142-pts-134 in three overtimes to take a MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206 lead of 3-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-1, the Chicago Bulls have a 12-0 series record and a 8-4 Game 5 record; when trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-1, the Brooklyn Nets (as the New Jersey Nets) had a 0-2 series record and a 1-1 Game 5 record. The 142 points by Chicago are the most in a best-of-7 format NBA playoff game since series 618 Game 4, in which the Portland Trailblazers defeated the Suns in Phoenix 153-pts-151 in two overtimes in their 1992 Quarterfinals series. The 142 points by Chicago are the most ever in a best-of-7 format NBA Preliminary-round game, breaking the old (but fresh) record of 131 points set by the Golden State Warriors on 23 April 2013 in series 1209 Game 2 in Denver against the Nuggets. The 276 combined points by the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls are the most in a best-of-7 NBA playoff game since series 899 Game 3, in which the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings combined for 278 points in their 2003 Quarterfinals series. The 276 combined points by the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls are the most ever in a best-of-7 NBA Preliminary-round game, eclipsing the previous mark of 255 points by the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls in series 1072 Game 6, in their 2009 NBA Preliminary-round series.

After Game 3: The Chicago Bulls hosted and defeated the Brooklyn Nets 79-pts-76 to take a MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206 lead of 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the Chicago Bulls have a 17-3 series record and a 9-11 Game 4 record; when trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the Brooklyn Nets (as the New Jersey Nets) had a 2-5 series record and a 5-2 Game 4 record.

After Game 2: The Brooklyn Nets hosted and lost to the Chicago Bulls 90-pts-82 to see MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206 fall into a 1-game-all tie. When tied in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-all, the Brooklyn Nets (as the New Jersey Nets) had a 4-3 series record and a 2-5 Game 3 record, while the Chicago Bulls have an 11-7 series record and a 13-5 Game 3 record. Series 1206 thus becomes only the second best-of-7 NBA playoff series in which the home team won Game 1 by 17 points and lost Game 2 by eight: In series 865, the Kings in Sacramento did so against the Dallas Mavericks in the 2002 NBA Quarterfinals; Sacramento went on to win Games 3-5 and the series.

After Game 1: The Brooklyn Nets hosted and defeated the Chicago Bulls 106-pts-89 for a 1-game-nil lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the Brooklyn Nets (as the New Jersey Nets) had a 7-2 series record and a 4-5 Game 2 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the Chicago Bulls have a 6-15 series record and a 8-13 Game 2 record. In the history of best-of-7 format NBA playoff series from 1947 through 2012, inclusive, teams winning Game 1 by 17 points have a 7-0 series record.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2012-13 NBA regular season, Brooklyn finished four games ahead of Chicago. From 1947 through the 2012 NBA Finals round, inclusive, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by four regular-season games, they have posted a 24-8 (.750) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1206 is the 46th best-of-7 NBA playoff series for Chicago, and the first for the newly-renamed Brooklyn Nets. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, Chicago has a 25-20 series record, a 2-5 Preliminary-round series record, and a 24-21 Game 1 record, while Brooklyn (as the New Jersey Nets) had an 8-7 series record, a 4-1 Preliminary-round record, and a 9-6 Game 1 record. Series 1206 is the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between the Chicago Bulls and the Nets (whether in New Jersey or Brooklyn).
