SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The Indiana Pacers visited and defeated the Atlanta Hawks 81-pts-73 for a 4-games-2 win in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205. With the series 1205 win, the Indiana Pacers improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 11-11 and their Preliminary-round series record to 4-3. With the series 1205 loss, the Atlanta Hawks see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 5-20 (with an active three-series losing streak) and their Preliminary-round series record fall to 3-3. The win order for the victorious Indiana Pacers in series 1205 was WWLLWW: Series 1205 thus becomes the fifth NBA Preliminary-round series, the 28th NBA series (all rounds), and the 68th MLB/NBA/NHL Preliminary-round series (all rounds) to follow such a win order to completion. In the second quarter of series 1205 Game 6, the Atlanta Hawks managed to score only nine points: Those nine points were the fewest in any best-of-7 NBA playoff game second quarter since the Detroit Pistons managed only nine points in the second quarter of series 933 Game 3, at home against the Indiana Pacers in their 2004 Semifinals series.

After Game 5: The Indiana Pacers hosted and defeated the Atlanta Hawks 106-pts-83 to take a 3-games-2 lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Indiana Pacers have a series record of 6-1 (with an active five-series winning streak) and a Game 6 record of 4-3. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Atlanta Hawks have a series record of 1-7 and a Game 6 record of 3-5. Series 1205 is only the ninth best-of-7 NBA playoff series in which one team led 3-games-2 after five games, and in which all five games had been decided by double-digit victory margins.

After Game 4: The Atlanta Hawks hosted and defeated the Indiana Pacers 102-pts-91 to tie MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205 at 2-games-all. When tied in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-all, the Indiana Pacers have a 3-8 series record (with an active three-series losing streak) and a 4-7 Game 5 record (with an active three-Game 5 losing streak), while the Atlanta Hawks have a 3-5 series record and a 3-5 Game 5 record. Series 1205 becomes the sixth best-of-7 NBA series in which a team (Indiana) wins Games 1-2 at home by two double-digit margins, then loses Games 3-4 on the road by two double-digit margins.

After Game 3: The Atlanta Hawks hosted and defeated the Indiana Pacers 90-pts-69 to reduce the Indiana MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205 lead to 2-games-1. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the Indiana Pacers have a 7-3 series record and a 4-6 Game 4 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the Atlanta Hawks have a 1-13 series record and a 6-8 Game 4 record. The 69 points scored by the Indiana Pacers are the lowest in a game by any team thus far in the 2013 NBA playoffs.

After Game 2: The Indiana Pacers hosted and defeated the Atlanta Hawks 113-pts-98 to take a 2-games-nil lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-nil, the Indiana Pacers have a 6-0 series record and a 3-3 Game 3 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-nil, the Atlanta Hawks have a 0-11 series record and a 5-6 Game 3 record. In each of the eight quarters through series 1205 Games 1-2, Indiana has either tied or exceeded Atlanta in points scored – the first time that such has happened in Games 1-2 of a best-of-7 NBA playoff series since series 1076 Games 1-2, in which the Denver Nuggets achieved this feat against the New Orleans Hornets in the 2009 NBA Preliminary round.

After Game 1: The Indiana Pacers hosted and defeated the Atlanta Hawks 107-pts-90 to take a 1-game-nil lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the Indiana Pacers have an 8-2 series record and a 6-4 Game 2 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the Atlanta Hawks have a 0-17 series record and a 6-11 Game 2 record (with a four-Game 2 losing streak). In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff series from 1947 through 2012, inclusive, teams which win Game 1 by 17 points (such as Indiana in series 1205 Game 1) have a 7-0 series record.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2012-13 NBA regular season, Indiana finished 5.5 games ahead of Atlanta. From 1947 through the 2012 NBA Finals round, inclusive, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 5.5 regular-season games, they have posted a 0-0 (---) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1205 is the 25th best-of-7 NBA playoff series for Atlanta, and the 22nd for Indiana. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, Atlanta has a 5-19 series record, a 3-2 Preliminary-round series record, and a 7-17 Game 1 record, while Indiana has a 10-11 series record, a 3-3 Preliminary-round record, and a 10-11 Game 1 record. Series 1205 is the second best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between Atlanta and Indiana; Indiana won MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 667 in the 1994 NBA Quarterfinals against Atlanta in their only previous best-of-7 format NBA playoff series meeting.
