SERIES NOTES:

Post-series assessment: The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Nashville Predators 4-games-2 in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1094. With the series 1094 victory, the Chicago Blackhawks improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 29-38 overall and 7-7 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1094 loss, the Nashville Predators maintain their perfect best-of-7 NHL playoff series record at 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the Preliminary round. The win order in series 1094 by the victorious Chicago Blackhawks was LWLWWW: Series 1094 thus becomes the seventh NHL Preliminary-round series, the 16th NHL series (all rounds), and the 29th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow this win order to completion. The Nashville Predators and, at the end of 26 April 2010, the Phoenix Coyotes (who still have a Game 7 to play in series 1096) are tied for the second-worst best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series record at 0-5; worst is the old Hartford Whalers at 0-7. In series 1094 Game 5, the Chicago Blackhawks trailed the Nashville Predators by a goal with only 15 seconds left in regulation in Chicago: In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff games from 1939 through 2009, teams down a goal with but 15 seconds left (and irrespective of site) had a game record of only 6-755 (.008); to top all: Chicago was short-handed at the time of its game-tying goal 19:46 into the third period of series 1094 Game 5.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2009-10 regular season, Chicago finished twelve points ahead of Nashville. From 1939 through the 2009 NHL Finals, when NHL teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 12 regular-season points, they have posted an 8-9 (.471) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1094 is the fifth best-of-7 playoff series for Nashville, and the 67th for Chicago. In best-of-7 playoff series, Nashville has a 0-4 series record, a 0-4 Prelim-round series record, and a 1-3 Game 1 record, while Chicago has a 28-38 series record, a 6-7 Prelim-round record, and a 24-42 Game 1 record. Series 1094 is the first best-of-7 meeting between Nashville and Chicago.
