SERIES NOTES:

Post-series assessment: The Orlando Magic defeated the Atlanta Hawks 4-games-nil in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1113. With the series 1113 win, the Orlando Magic improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the Quarterfinals. With the series 1113 loss, the Atlanta Hawks see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 4-17 overall and 2-14 in the Quarterfinals (with active 14-series and 15-game losing streaks). In best-of-7 playoff history, the four-game sweep by the victorious Orlando Magic is the 22nd in the NBA Quarterfinals, the 56th in the NBA (all rounds), and the 184th in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 play (all rounds). The Orlando Magic hosted and defeated the Atlanta Hawks 114-pts-71 in series 1113 Game 1: The 43-point margin of victory ties a best-of-7 NBA playoff Game 1 record for largest Game 1 margin of victory, set in series 436 Game 1 by the Los Angeles Lakers (in their 134-pts-91 win over the visiting Dallas Mavericks in the 1984 NBA Quarterfinals); the 43-point wins by the 1984 Lakers and 2010 Magic tie for the sixth-largest margin of victory in best-of-7 NBA playoff games. Among best-of-7 NBA playoff series ending in four-game sweeps, series 1113 sets a new record for largest total margin of victory (43pts + 14pts + 30pts + 14pts = 101pts), breaking the old record of 89 total points set by the Los Angeles Lakers over the San Antonio Spurs in series 843 (the 2001 NBA Semifinals).

Pre-series assessment: In the 2009-10 NBA regular season, the Orlando Magic finished six games ahead of the Atlanta Hawks. From 1939 through the 2010 NBA Preliminary round, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by six regular-season games, they have posted a 16-4 (.800) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1113 is the 21st best-of-7 playoff series for the Atlanta Hawks, and the 15th for the Orlando Magic. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, Atlanta has a 4-16 series record, a 2-13 Quarterfinals-round series record (with an active 13-series losing streak and an active 11-game losing streak), and a 4-16 Game 1 record (through the 2010 NBA Preliminary round, when Atlanta wins Game 1, it wins the series; when Atlanta loses Game 1, it loses the series), while Orlando has an 8-6 series record, an 3-1 Quarterfinals-round record, and an 8-6 Game 1 record. Series 1113 is the second best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between Atlanta and Orlando: Orlando won the first (series 714, in the 1996 NBA Quarterfinals).
