SERIES NOTES:

Post-series assessment: The Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-games-2 in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1112. With the series 1112 win, the Boston Celtics improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 58-19 overall and 18-6 in the Quarterfinals. With the series 1112 loss, the Cleveland Cavaliers see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 10-8 overall and 4-4 in the Quarterfinals. The victorious Boston Celtics posted a series 1112 win order of LWLWWW: Series 1112 thus becomes the fifth NBA Quarterfinals, the tenth NBA series (all rounds), and the 30th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow this win order to completion. In series 1112, the Cleveland Cavaliers lose a best-of-7 NBA playoff series in which they had won Game 1 for the first time, and now sport an 8-1 best-of-7 NBA playoff series record upon having won Game 1. In series 1112 Game 1, Cleveland trailed the visiting Boston Celtics 54-pts-43 at half-time, but rallied to win 101-pts-93: In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff series from 1947 through the 2010 NBA Preliminary round, teams trailing by 11 points at half-time irrespective of site had a game record of only 15-94 (.138). In retrospect, the Game 1 rally mattered little.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2009-10 NBA regular season, the Cleveland Cavaliers finished eleven games ahead of the Boston Celtics. From 1939 through the 2010 NBA Preliminary round, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by eleven regular-season games, they have posted an 18-4 (.818) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents, with an active eleven-series winning streak. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1112 is the 77th best-of-7 playoff series for the Boston Celtics, and the 18th for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, Boston has a 57-19 series record, a 17-6 Quarterfinals-round series record, and a 54-22 Game 1 record, while Cleveland has a 10-7 series record, a 4-3 Quarterfinals-round record, and an 8-9 Game 1 record. Series 1112 is the fourth best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between Boston and Cleveland: Cleveland won series 616 (in the 1992 NBA Quarterfinals round), but Boston won series 318 (in the 1976 NBA Semifinals round) and series 1046 (in the 2008 NBA Quarterfinals round).
