SERIES NOTES:

Post-series assessment: The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-games-2 in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1108, a series in which the only road victory occurred in the last game. With the series 1108 victory, the Los Angeles Lakers improved their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 63-28 overall and 5-2 in the Preliminary round. With the series 1108 loss, the Oklahoma City Thunder see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 0-1 overall, since series 1108 was the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series for the franchise formerly in operation as the Seattle Supersonics. The win order followed by the victorious Los Angeles Lakers in series 1108 was WWLLWW: Series 1108 thus becomes the third NBA Preliminary-round series, the 25th NBA series (all rounds), and the 64th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow this win order to completion.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2009-10 regular season, the Los Angeles Lakers finished seven games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder. From 1947 through the 2009 NBA Finals, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by seven regular-season games, they have posted a 21-4 (.840) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1108 is the first best-of-7 playoff series for Oklahoma City, and the 91st for the Los Angeles Lakers. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the Oklahoma City Thunder as their predecessor franchise, the Seattle Supersonics, had an 11-13 series record, a 1-0 Prelim-round series record, and a 13-11 Game 1 record, while the Los Angeles Lakers have a 62-28 series record, a 4-2 Prelim-round record, and a 59-31 Game 1 record. Series 1108 is the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between Oklahoma City and the L.A. Lakers; the Lakers faced the Seattle Supersonics in five best-of-7 NBA playoff series, winning four.
