SERIES NOTES:

After Game 4: The visiting Detroit Red Wings defeated the Colorado Avalanche 8-goals-2 to notch a 4-games-nil victory in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1033. With the series 1033 win, the Detroit Red Wings improve their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 47-37 overall and 9-6 in the NHL Quarterfinals. With the series 1033 loss, the Colorado Avalanche see their best-of-7 NHL playoff series record fall to 19-9 overall and 6-3 with a three-series losing streak in the NHL Quarterfinals. The four-games-nil sweep in series 1033 is the 36th in the NHL Quarterfinals, the 99th in the NHL (all rounds), and the 175th in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series (all rounds). The eight series 1033 Game 4 goals by Detroit tie the eight series 445 Game 4 goals by the Edmonton Oilers against the Winnipeg Jets in their 1985 NHL Quarterfinals series for the most goals by the winning team in Game 4 of a four-games-nil NHL playoff series sweep. Edmonton went on to win the 1985 NHL championship. The six-goal victory margin in series 1033 Game 4 is the largest victory margin ever in Game 4 of a four-games-nil NHL playoff series sweep, superseding the previous mark of a five-goal victory margin as set in series 56 Game 4 by the Montreal Canadiens (winning 7-goals-2 against the Chicago Blackhawks in their 1946 NHL Semifinals series), tied in series 68 Game 4 by the Toronto Maple Leafs (winning 7-goals-2 against the Detroit Red Wings in their 1948 NHL Finals series), and tied again in the aforementioned series 445 Game 4 by the Edmonton Oilers (winning 8-goals-3 against the Winnipeg Jets in their 1985 NHL Quarterfinals series).

After Game 3: With MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1033 in Denver for Games 3-4, the visiting Detroit Red Wings defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-goals-3 to take a 3-games-nil series 1033 lead. When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 3-games-nil, the Detroit Red Wings have a series record of 14-1 with a 14-series winning streak, and a Game 4 record of 11-4. When trailing a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 3-games-nil, the Colorado Avalanche have a series record of 0-2, and a Game 4 mark of 1-1.

After Game 2: The Detroit Red Wings hosted and defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-goals-1 to take a 2-games-nil lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1033. When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Detroit Red Wings have a 23-6 series record (with an active four-series winning streak) and a 15-14 Game 3 record (with a five-Game 3 losing streak). When trailing a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Colorado Avalanche have a 1-2 series record, and a Game 3 record of 1-2. The sole best-of-7 NHL playoff series that Colorado has won upon trailing 2-games-nil: Series 784 in the 1999 NHL Quarterfinals, which the Avalanche won in six games ... over the Detroit Red Wings (unlike series 1033, Colorado enjoyed home-ice advantage in series 784).

After Game 1: The Detroit Red Wings hosted and defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-goals-3 to take a 1-game-nil lead in MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1033. When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Detroit Red Wings have a 31-13 series record and a 29-15 Game 2 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Colorado Avalanche have a 4-5 series record with an active four-series losing streak, and a Game 2 record of 6-3.

MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 playoff series 1033 is the 28th best-of-7 playoff series for Colorado, and the 84th for Detroit. In best-of-7 playoff series, Colorado has a 19-8 series record, a 6-2 Quarterfinals series record, and a 18-9 Game 1 record, while Detroit has a 46-37 series record, an 8-6 Quarterfinals record, and a 44-39 Game 1 record.
