With the series 1001 win, Anaheim (as the Mighty Ducks or as the Ducks) improves its best-of-7 NHL playoff series record to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the NHL Quarterfinals (with an active three-series winning streak in the Quarterfinals). With the series 1001 loss, Vancouver sees its best-of-7 NHL playoff series record fall to 10-14 overall and 2-6 in the NHL Quarterfinals (with an active three-series losing streak). The win order for the victorious Anaheim Ducks was WLWWW in series 1001: Series 1001 thus becomes the eighth NHL Quarterfinals series, the 32nd NHL series (all rounds), and the 67th MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow such a win order.

After Game 4: The Anaheim Ducks once again visited the Vancouver Canucks, defeating the Canucks 3-goals-2 with the game-winning goal 2:07 into the first overtime period. Anaheim trailed series 1001 Game 4 by a 2-goals-nil score as late as 3:57 into the third period: In the history of best-of-7 NHL playoff series from 1939 through 2006, road teams trailing by two goals with 3:57 elapsed in the third period had only a 15-341 (.042) game record.

After Game 2: Scoring the game-winning goal at 7:49 into double overtime, the visiting Vancouver Canucks defeated the Anaheim Ducks 2-goals-1 to knot best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1001 at 1-game-all.
