SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The New Jersey Nets hosted and defeated the Toronto Raptors 98-pts-97 to achieve a 4-games-2 victory in best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007. With the series 1007 win, the New Jersey Nets improve their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in the NBA Preliminary round. With the series 1007 loss, the Toronto Raptors see their best-of-7 NBA playoff series record fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the NBA Preliminary round. The victorious New Jersey Nets posted a series 1007 win order of WLWWLW: Series 1007 thus becomes the third NBA Preliminary round series, the 17th NBA series (all rounds), and the 34 MLB/NBA/NHL series (all rounds) to follow this win order to conclusion.

After Game 5: With best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007 back in Canada for Game 5, the host Toronto Raptors seized a 20-point lead after the first quarter and held on for a 98-pts-96 victory over the New Jersey Nets. The win by the Raptors reduces the Nets series 1007 lead to 3-games-2. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the New Jersey Nets have a series record of 3-1 and a Game 6 record of 3-1. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Toronto Raptors have a series record of 0-1 and a Game 6 record of 1-0 (against the Philadelphia 76ers in series 838, during the 2001 NBA Quarterfinals).

After Game 4: Scoring a total of 102 points for the second consecutive playoff game, the New Jersey Nets hosted and defeated the Toronto Raptors 102-pts-81 to take a 3-games-1 lead in best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007. New Jersey led Game 4 by 17 points after the first quarter, and by 30 points after the third quarter. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-1, the New Jersey Nets have a series record of 1-0 and a Game 5 record of 1-0. The Toronto Raptors are trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-1 for the first time.

After Game 3: With best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007 in New Jersey for Games 3-4, the host Nets defeated the visiting Toronto Raptors 102-pts-89 to take a 2-games-1 series lead. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1, the New Jersey Nets have a series record of 2-0 and a Game 4 record of 1-1. The Toronto Raptors trail a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-1 for the first time in series 1007. In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff series from 1947 through 2006, teams that win Game 3 by 13+ points to take a 2-games-1 lead (such as New Jersey) have a series record of 49-7 (.875). Ironically, one of the seven series losses in this situation was sustained by the Toronto Raptors in series 838 (in their only previous best-of-7 NBA playoff appearance, against the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2001 NBA Quarterfinals): The 2001 Philadelphia 76ers, which defeated the 2001 edition of the Raptors in series 838, thus set a favorable precedent for the 2007 Raptors in series 1007.

After Game 2: The Toronto Raptors hosted and defeated the New Jersey Nets 89-pts-83 to knot best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007 at 1-game-all. When tied 1-game-all in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the New Jersey Nets have a series record of 3-3 and a Game 3 record of 1-5 (with an active three-Game 3 losing streak), while the Toronto Raptors have a series record of 0-1 and a Game 3 record of 1-0. The win is the first by the Toronto Raptors in a best-of-7 format NBA playoff game since series 838 Game 6, when the Raptors hosted and defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 101-pts-89 in their 2001 NBA Quarterfinals series.

After Game 1: On the first day of the 2007 NBA playoffs, the New Jersey Nets became the only road team in the four games played to win on the road. The Nets visited and defeated the Toronto Raptors 96-pts-91 to take a 1-game-nil best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007 lead. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the New Jersey Nets have a series record of 6-2 and a Game 2 record of 4-4. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series record 1-game-nil, the Toronto Raptors have a series record of 0-0 and a Game 2 record of 0-0 (i.e., the Raptors trail a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil for the first time in series 1007).

Pre-series assessment: In the 2006-07 NBA regular season, Toronto finished six games ahead of New Jersey. From 1947 through the 2006 NBA Finals, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by six regular-season games, they have posted a 15-3 (.833) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. Best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 1007 is the 14th best-of-7 NBA playoff series for New Jersey, and the second for Toronto. In best-of-7 NBA playoff series, New Jersey has a 7-6 series record, a 3-1 Prelim-round series record, and an 8-5 Game 1 record, while Toronto has a 0-1 series record, a 0-0 Prelim-round record, and a 0-1 Game 1 record. Series 1007 is the first best-of-7 NBA playoff series meeting between New Jersey and Toronto.
