SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: Scoring the first road victory by either team in best-of-7 playoff series 910, the Detroit Red Wings shut out the Predators in Nashville 2-goals-nil, thus ousting the Predators 4-games-2. The Nashville Predators thus lose their first best-of-7 NHL playoff series. The Detroit Red Wings, conversely, improve their best-of-7 overall series record to 43-34, and their Preliminary-round series record to 11-6. The win order for the series 910 victorious team was WWLLWW: Series 910 thus becomes the ninth NHL Preliminary-round series with this win order, the 27th NHL playoff series (all rounds) with this win order, and the 51st best-of-7 playoff series (MLB, NBA, and NHL; all rounds) to follow said win order.

After Game 5: With best-of-7 playoff series 910 having returned to Detroit, the host Red Wings defeated the visiting Nashville Predators 4-goals-1 to seize a 3-games-2 series lead; this, in a series in which the home team has yet to lose a game. When the Detroit Red Wings lead a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 3-games-2, their overall series record is 16-4 (with an active seven-series winning streak), and their Preliminary-round series record is 5-1 (with an active four-series winning streak).

After Game 4: The Nashville Predators hosted and shut out the Detroit Red Wings 3-goals-nil in series 910 Game 4, thus knotting best-of-7 series 910 at 2-games-all. When tied 2-games-all in an NHL best-of-7 playoff series, the Detroit Red Wings have an overall series record of 15-10 and a Preliminary-round series record of 3-3.

After Game 3: With best-of-7 series 910 in Tennessee, the Nashville Predators won their first-ever best-of-7 NHL playoff game with a 3-goals-1 decision over the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit now leads their series by a 2-games-1 tally. When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 2-games-1, the Detroit Red Wings have an overall series record of 19-8, a Preliminary-round series record of 3-4, and an overall Game 4 record of 12-7. Through three games of series 907 and 910, the performance of the Detroit Red Wings parallels that of the Boston Bruins: Game 1-2 wins at home; a Game 3 loss on the road.

After Game 2: The Detroit Red Wings hosted and defeated the Nashville Predators 2-goals-1 to take a 2-games-nil lead in best-of-7 playoff series 910. When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 2-games-nil, the Detroit Red Wings have a 20-6 overall series record and a 5-2 Preliminary-round series record. In best-of-7 NHL playoff series from 1939 through 2003, when a team (irrespective of site) wins Game 1 by two goals and wins Game 2 by one goal, its series record is 19-3 (.864) with an active nine-series winning streak.

After Game 1: Trailing by one goal after two periods of play, the Detroit Red Wings rallied to defeat the visiting Nashville Predators 3-goals-1, in this first-ever best-of-7 NHL playoff game for the Predators. Tallying only 16 seconds into the game, the Nashville Predators set a new record for fastest goal by a franchise in its first best-of-7 NHL playoff series action. The previous fastest mark was 1:05 into the first period, set by the Pittsburgh Penguins in best-of-7 series 220 (a 1970 NHL Quarterfinals series vs. the late Oakland Seals). When leading a best-of-7 NHL playoff series 1-game-nil, the Detroit Red Wings have a 28-11 series record overall, and a 6-4 Preliminary-round series record.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2003-04 regular season, Detroit finished 18 points ahead of Nashville. From 1939 through 2003, when NHL teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by 18 regular-season points, they have gone on to post a 7-6 (.538) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 series 910 is the first-ever best-of-7 playoff series for Nashville and the 77th for Detroit. In best-of-7 playoff series, Detroit has a 42-34 record, a 10-6 Prelim-round record, and a 39-37 Game 1 record. Those ten Preliminary-round series victories for Detroit ties that of the NHL St. Louis Blues for the most best-of-7 NHL/NBA Preliminary-round series victories. Series 910 is the first best-of-7 meeting between Nashville and Detroit.
