SERIES NOTES:

After Game 6: The Los Angeles Lakers hosted and defeated the San Antonio Spurs 88-pts-76 in best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 932 Game 6, thus achieving a 4-games-2 series 932 victory. The series victory improves the Los Angeles Lakers overall best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 54-24 and their NBA Quarterfinals series record to 22-7. The series loss lowers the San Antonio Spurs overall best-of-7 NBA playoff series record to 13-13 and their NBA Quarterfinals series record to 7-8. The series 932 victory order was LLWWWW: Series 932 thus becomes the second NBA Quarterfinals series, the fourth NBA series (all rounds), and the 26th MLB/NBA/NHL series in the best-of-7 playoff format to show this win order. The Los Angeles Lakers become through Saturday the only team in best-of-7 NBA Quarterfinals series history to lose Games 1-2 and then win Games 3-6 to take the series, doing so in series 932 vs. the San Antonio Spurs in 2004, and in series 211 vs. the San Francisco Warriors in 1969 (the New Jersey Nets on Sunday are poised to do likewise with a win at home vs. the Detroit Pistons; time will tell if the Nets win series 930 and thus emulate the Lakers in this regard). By winning series 932, the Los Angeles Lakers break an eleven-series losing streak by teams in best-of-7 NBA playoff series (all rounds) who lose Games 1-2 on the road and then win Games 3-4 at home. Before series 932, teams in the best-of-7 NBA Quarterfinals round that lost Games 1-2 on the road and won Games 3-4 at home had had a perfect 0-17 series record.

After Game 5: After falling behind by one point with 0.4 seconds left in regulation, the Los Angeles Lakers scored on a two-point shot at the buzzer to defeat the Spurs in San Antonio 74-pts-73 in best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 932 Game 4. Los Angeles thus takes a 3-games-2 series 932 lead. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the Los Angeles Lakers have a 22-3 series record (all rounds, with an active 17-series winning streak) and a 14-11 Game 6 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 3-games-2, the San Antonio Spurs have a perfect 0-7 series record (all rounds) and a 2-5 Game 6 record.

After Game 4: The Los Angeles Lakers hosted and defeated the San Antonio Spurs 98-pts-90 to win best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 932 Game 4, thus tying series 932 at 2-games-all. When tied 2-games-all in a best-of-7 NBA playoff series, the San Antonio Spurs have a 3-4 series record (all rounds, and with a current three-series winning streak) and a 3-4 Game 5 record (with an active 3-Game 5 winning streak), while the L.A. Lakers have a 15-7 series record (all rounds) and a 16-6 Game 5 record. In the 2003 NBA Quarterfinals (series 898, in particular), the San Antonio Spurs also established a win/site order of WWLL @ HHVV, before winning Game 5 at home and Game 6 on the road to oust the Lakers en route to the 2003 NBA championship.

After Game 3: With best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL series 932 in Los Angeles for Game 3, the host Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-pts-81 to cut the San Antonio series 932 lead to 2-games-1. When leading an NBA best-of-7 playoff series 2-games-1, the San Antonio Spurs have an 8-1 series record (with an active seven-series winning streak) and a 6-3 Game 4 record. When trailing an NBA best-of-7 playoff series 2-games-1, the Los Angeles Lakers have a 5-15 series record and a 7-13 Game 4 record. In NBA best-of-7 playoff history from 1947 through the 2004 NBA Preliminary round, when a team wins Games 1-2 at home but loses Game 3 on the road by 24 or more points (as San Antonio has), its series record is 5-2.

After Game 2: The San Antonio Spurs hosted and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 95-pts-85 to win best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 932 Game 2, thereby taking a 2-games-nil series 932 lead. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-nil, the San Antonio Spurs have a 9-0 series record (all rounds) and a 5-4 Game 3 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 2-games-nil, the Los Angeles Lakers have a 1-13 series record (all rounds) and a 9-5 Game 3 record - the sole series victory occurred in series 211 (in the 1969 NBA Quarterfinals), in which the Lakers won Games 3-6 to oust the San Francisco Warriors. San Antonio has won Games 1-2 of series 932 by ten points each: From 1947 through the 2004 NBA Preliminary round, when a team wins Game 1 and Game 2 of an NBA best-of-7 playoff series by a victory margin of ten points or greater in each game, its series record is 47-1; the sole defeat was suffered by the Phoenix Suns in series 691 (a 1995 NBA Quarterfinals series) to the eventual 1995 NBA champion Houston Rockets.

After Game 1: The San Antonio Spurs inaugurated the 2004 NBA Quarterfinals round by hosting and defeating the Los Angeles Lakers, in a battle of the two franchises that have won the last five NBA championships. Through posting an 88-pts-78 Game 1 victory, the Spurs take a 1-game-nil best-of-7 MLB/NBA/NHL playoff series 932 lead. When leading a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the San Antonio Spurs have a 11-2 overall series record and a 9-4 Game 2 record. When trailing a best-of-7 NBA playoff series 1-game-nil, the Los Angeles Lakers have a 8-17 overall series record and a 11-14 Game 2 record.

Pre-series assessment: In the 2003-04 regular season, San Antonio finished one game ahead of Los Angeles. From 1947 through 2003, when NBA teams led their best-of-7 playoff series opponents by one regular-season game, they have posted a 13-12 (.520) best-of-7 series record in those series against those opponents. MLB/NBA/NHL best-of-7 series 932 is the 78th best-of-7 playoff series for Los Angeles, and the 26th for San Antonio. In best-of-7 playoff series, Los Angeles has a 53-24 series record, a 21-7 Quarterfinals-round series record, and a 52-25 Game 1 record, while San Antonio has a 13-12 series record, a 7-7 Quarterfinals-round record, and a 13-12 Game 1 record. Series 932 is the eighth best-of-7 meeting between Los Angeles and San Antonio; the Lakers' best-of-7 NBA playoff series record vs. San Antonio is 4-3.
